The Sports Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine Associates (SOAR) is a group of 8 orthopedic surgeons, 2 Rheumatologists, and a associated prcatice of 6 Physiatrists who practice out of 3 offices in the San Francisco Bay Area. An additional fellowship position has been created in Sports Medicine for the period of 8/1/07-7/31/08 year.

The primary purpose of the SOAR Fellowship is to provide an exceptional experience in preparation for the practice of Sports Medicine. Fellows are immersed in a clinical practice that provides musculoskeletal care to the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Sharks, Stanford University, Santa Clara University and other Bay Area universities and community colleges. Team coverage and sideline management will be a part of this educational experience, including the evaluation of these injuries at the professional, collegiate and community college level.

This Program focuses on developing the skills and knowledge base allowing precise diagnosis of musculoskeletal problems including the use of a wide variety of diagnostic modalities. The fellows will be exposed to a high volume of operative experience and also gain in intimate knowledge of rehabilitation and management of post operative issues. The anatomic areas covered include significant experience in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle, with additional experience available in the wrist hand and foot. The fellow's responsibilities will therefore include time spent in the operating room, clinic, training rooms, sideline coverage and will also include time set aside for research.
